Discovery Cart Programs

Discoverycarts

Discovery carts serve as portable learning stations that cover a variety of topics. Discovery carts are led by knowledgeable staff from the Programs Department and include interactive learning opportunities. Discovery cart programs cost an additional $3 per student, per cart program, to the base $5.50 admission price.

Fossil Discovery
Capacity: One class, approximately 25 students
Location: Variable (located on cart)
Description: Students will learn about fossils, what they are, how they came to be, and what they tell us about life in the past. Students will be able to touch certain fossils, and will learn about geologic time. While the fossils in the discovery cart change periodically, some fossils your students may interact with include trilobites, coprolites, animal and fern impressions, and dinosaur fossils..

Sustainability
Capacity: One class, approximately 25 students
Location: Variable (located on cart)
Description: Students will discover ways to make their environments more eco-friendly. During the presentation, some of the museum’s green choices will be highlighted, such as the low-emissivity glass of the building windows, and the recycled carpeting and wood floors. Students will use an infrared camera to see how the low-e glass better insulates the building than regular glass.
