ZEISS POWERDOME PLANETARIUM

Thanks to a state-of-the-art digital projection system secured via NASA funding, extraordinary flights through the Milky Way and past the solar system are already taking place at Lakeview planetarium—and will be enhanced by a 30-percent-larger dome at the system's new Peoria Riverfront Museum home. The Zeiss Powerdome Planetarium, purchased from world-renowned German optical systems manufacturer Carl Zeiss Inc., will educate and entertain our region for years to come.

You'll experience vivid sights and lights that seemingly go into infinity. The system provides basic astronomical functions with unprecedented accuracy. Through a patented fiber-optic projection system (each star has its own glass fiber!), it will project more than 7,000 stars—and 10 times more brilliantly than the planetarium's previous system.
