After the death of his wife, Sam Baldwin moves to Seattle with his young son. When his son calls a national radio show hoping to find Sam a new partner, thousands of women respond. Among them is Annie, a Baltimore journalist who becomes convinced she is destined to meet Sam, despite being engaged to someone else.
