A MUSEUM+ Program, in association with the Lyric Theatre @ Illinois
Music and Lyrics by Ryan Scott Oliver, based on the photographs by Matthew Murphy
Saturday, February 1, 2025 | Doors open at 6:30 p.m. - Performance at 7 p.m.The Peoria Riverfront Museum is proud to present, in association with our dear friends and curators of performance for the museum Julie and Nathan Gunn, 35MM: A Musical Exhibition. This will be the latest in a series of MUSEUM+ performances, sponsored by Linda Beth and Ed Sutkowski in an effort to bring more performance to Peoria, and offers a multi-sensory experienced, enhanced by the performance taking place in current museum exhibition Solitude: The Necessity of Art.
35MM: A Musical Exhibition is a series of songs that explore a range of human experiences: love, friendship, death, betrayal and memory. Audiences are encouraged to make their own connections between the songs, as well as thinking of their own personal experiences, and a broader cultural perspective.
Each song is inspired by a photograph by Matthew Murphy, and will be projected on a screen behind the actors. The songs are written by Ryan Scott Oliver and are intended to feel like their own small shows. For example, "On Monday" is about a new relationship that starts with flirtation and turns to uncertainty. "Cut You a Piece" is about a young couple in love who experience tragedy.
