Chief Financial Officer

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key leader of the only museum of its kind in the nation, a museum of art, science, history, and achievement where we tell stories that build confidence, create a culture of lifelong learning, and unleash the full talent and genius of every individual. The CFO is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability. This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance requirements. Duties may also include support of IT, facilities and human resources. The CFO will work closely with the President and CEO, the COO, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals.

Requires Bachelor's degree or above in appropriate field including coursework equivalent to that required for CPA certification; CPA or CMA a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including GAAP and not-for-profit fund accounting. 3+ years of experience directing and managing the work of others required. Must have passion for the museum and its mission, and for mentoring others and working as a team. Full-time position with benefits. Core hours M-F 8-4; evenings and weekends as needed. Event Manager

Peoria Riverfront Museum seeks an Event Manager to create memorable experiences, maximize revenue through rentals, and ensure seamless event execution aligning with the museum's mission and development objectives and complementing current exhibitions. Responsible for scheduling, communications, administration and execution related to private event rentals as well as assisting with the production and facilitation of internal museum events. Full-time position with benefits. Core hours M-F 9-5, but flexibility is key, as frequent evenings and weekends are required to manage special events.

Requires 1 year event planning and production experience, museum experience a plus; requires high school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred. Membership Manager

Peoria Riverfront Museum seeks a Membership Manager to plan and execute the museum's program for core membership categories, including cultivation, acknowledgement, renewals, achieving membership goals, tracking revenue, and coordinating membership promotions, sales and activities. Coordinate the museum's affinity group program and facilitate additional giving opportunities through targeted affinity-based campaigns. Full-time position with benefits. Core hours M-F 9-5; some evenings and weekends as needed.

Requires Bachelors degree and experience with database maintenance and MS Office. Experience with a membership program, event planning, sales, customer service, or fundraising preferred, along with use of fundraising software. Education Guides - Part-Time

Education Guides share Museum content with and ensure quality educational experiences and visitor services for school field trips, group tours, and other Museum visitors. Many of the school field trips are part of the Every Student Initiative (ESI) program, which aims to engage every student from every public, private and homeschool organization in Central Illinois with a curriculum-inspired visit to the Peoria Riverfront Museum every year. A typical class visit to the Museum includes a tour of the exhibition galleries, a workshop or exercise related to Museum content, and either a planetarium show or an educational film in the Giant Screen Theater. Education Guides also help with interactive educational spaces such as the Lab (hands-on craft activities), Studio (a 3-D virtual reality program), and Gathering Galleries (interactive spaces inside exhibit galleries).

Requires interest and enthusiasm for sharing art, history, science and achievement content with students and the public, an ability to interact successfully with children and adults in public speaking situations, and a positive attitude; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Hours are part-time, typically 3-4 hours at a time on weekdays, mostly mornings but some afternoons. Click here for job description.

Docents - Part-Time

Peoria Riverfront Museum seeks part-time Docents. Share Museum exhibition content with visitors and ensure quality engagement experiences and visitor services in the Museum galleries. Flexible hours to be scheduled; may include Fridays and Saturdays 10-5 and Sundays 12-5; plus other days during the summer busy season. Visitor Services Associates - Part-Time

Peoria Riverfront Museum seeks part-time Visitor Services Associates. Work as part of a team to deliver quality customer service at the ticket desk, Museum store, concessions, galleries, and events. Sell admission tickets, memberships, store merchandise, and concessions; answer visitor questions; monitor safety in the galleries; assist with setups, hosting, and teardowns of events. Requires a positive attitude and strong people skills, cash handling ability, and ability to use a computerized point-of-sale system.
