The Peoria Riverfront Museum welcomes home Peoria native Bon French, chairman of the Center for Railroad Photography & Art and chairman emeritus and board member of the Chicago History Museum, for two special presentations on the "Railroaders: Jack Delano’s Homefront Photography" exhibition at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
Go behind the scenes and the photographs to discover the real stories of the railroaders, then and now, as Bon French and his team at the Center for Railroad Photography & Art researched every person depicted in Delano's masterful photographs, meeting with their families and even the surviving railroaders themselves.
Saturday, October 9, 2 pm | In-person Presentation | Live at the Peoria Riverfront Museum's Giant Screen Theater
"Railroaders: Jack Delano’s Homefront Photography," demonstrates that the railroad industry—like ethnic, religious, and neighborhood enclaves—fostered its own communities and networks. Through the stories of the lives of the men and women of railroading, this collaborative exhibition between the Center for Railroad Photography & Art and the Chicago History Museum demonstrates how the people of one industrial community represent, in microcosm, the vastness of Chicago society and, by extension, American society as a whole.
