Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum's Giant Screen Theater for a two-part film fest. Drs. Jane and Darrel Gumm present their Community Pix choices, two 2023 films: Past Lives and The Night of the 12th.
Past Lives is an A24 film from writer/director Celine Song, depicting the relationship between two deeply connected childhood friends, as they are torn apart after one's family emigrates from South Korea. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heart rending modern romance.

The Night of the 12th is a mystery by director Dominik Moll, released for streaming in 2023. This French-language film won 7 Cesar Awards, including best film and best director. It follows the unsolved case of a young woman's death in the town of Grenoble. The Night of the 12th is a gritty mystery that poses uneasy questions about the male-dominated world of law enforcement, and their ability to handle the violent crimes routinely perpetrated against female victims.
