A WALK THROUGH TIME: CELEBRATING PEORIA'S DEEP ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL PAST

Wednesday, August 14, 2024 | 6 p.m. | FREE program in the Dome Planetarium

Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum for the first ever formal presentation in the Peoria Riverfront Museum from PhD archaeologists and special advisors to the museum, Dana Bardolph and Greg Wilson: A Walk Through Time: Celebrating Peoria's Deep Archaeological and Historical Past. Wilson and Bardolph will be discussing their work here in the Illinois River Valley, their discoveries on the native tribes of our region, and how we can interpret the past through found objects.

Dana Bardolph is an assistant professor at Northern Illinois University, and Greg Wilson is a professor in the University of California's Department of Anthropology. Both have previously worked in the Illinois area with the Fandel Mounds archaeological dig, and are excited to return and do further archeological research in the Peoria area. Their initial digs, which revealed information on the French settlers in the region and their relationship with the Native American tribes in the area, has begun to establish a baseline for future digs in the area.

Sponsored by: Visionary Society and Planetarium and Science Club.
