Kate Schureman | VP of Administration and CSO
Kate Schureman has been with the Peoria Riverfront Museum, and its predecessor Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences, for 25+ years. She currently serves as the museum’s VP of Administration a```nd CSO. She is responsible for visitor services, front of house earned revenue operations including the Museum Store, strategic planning, institutional evaluations, grants, government relations, reaccreditation, and human resources
Kate comes from a deep heritage in Peoria and Tazewell counties. Before serving as the CSO, Kate served as the Project Manager for the $85 million Peoria Riverfront Museum, which opened in October 2012.
Kate also serves the museum field as the President of the national board of the Museum Store Association, is a Past President of the Illinois Association of Museums, and has served as an IMLS grant reviewer, and helped develop the American Alliance of Museums Advocacy Day program.
Before working at the Museum, Kate worked for 7 years on Capitol Hill as a congressional aide for three members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
Kate also serves in her community as the Immediate-Past President of the Peoria High School Alumni Association, serves in Rotary and PEO, sings in her church choir, and volunteering with Compassion International.
Kate holds a BA (Political Science and Communications) from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. When not working on museum duties, you will find Kate and her husband Bill hanging out with their four cats, watching Prime Minister’s questions on CSPAN, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks, or picking sweet corn at the sesquicentennial Schureman Farm. They are also members of ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts), and enjoy America’s great scenery from 300 feet in the air.
