Join us Sunday, June 9, 2024 as nationally renowned artist Alfred Conteh returns to the Peoria Riverfront Museum and unveils his first ever piece based on a subject outside of his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. His newest piece features a family from Peoria, Illinois, and emphasizes family ties, fatherhood, and the way that we connect to each other. The unveiling will take place at 12:30 p.m. in FRESH: New Directions in Contemporary Art .
On top of unveiling this first-of-its-kind painting, we will be premiering the first ever documentary on Alfred Conteh: The Unseen Majority directed by Arshley Emile of Timberhouse Films. The documentary will premiere at 1:30 p.m. in the Giant Screen Theater, followed by a panel discussion with artist Alfred Conteh, director Arshley Emile, and assistant curator and community engagement coordinator for the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Everley Davis.
