The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key leader of the only museum of its kind in the nation, a museum of art, science, history, and achievement where we tell stories that build confidence, create a culture of lifelong learning, and unleash the full talent and genius of every individual. The CFO is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability. This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance requirements. Duties may also include support of IT, facilities and human resources. The CFO will work closely with the President and CEO, the COO, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals.
Requires Bachelor's degree or above in appropriate field including coursework equivalent to that required for CPA certification; CPA or CMA a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including GAAP and not-for-profit fund accounting. 3+ years of experience directing and managing the work of others required. Education Guides share Museum content with and ensure quality educational experiences and visitor services for school field trips, group tours, and other Museum visitors. Many of the school field trips are part of the Every Student Initiative (ESI) program, which aims to engage every student from every public, private and homeschool organization in Central Illinois with a curriculum-inspired visit to the Peoria Riverfront Museum every year. A typical class visit to the Museum includes a tour of the exhibition galleries, a workshop or exercise related to Museum content, and either a planetarium show or an educational film in the Giant Screen Theater. Education Guides also help with interactive educational spaces such as the Lab (hands-on craft activities), Studio (a 3-D virtual reality program), and Gathering Galleries (interactive spaces inside exhibit galleries).
Requires interest and enthusiasm for sharing art, history, science and achievement content with students and the public, an ability to interact successfully with children and adults in public speaking situations, and a positive attitude; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
