The Peoria Riverfront Museum is honored to host Atlanta-based artist Alfred Conteh for a special visit to Peoria, Illinois May 26-28, 2023.
Conteh is the creator of “Malik and Marquis” a marvelous work of art that is currently on display at the museum in the "Revolutionaries: Art and Disruption" exhibition.
As an African American artist, Conteh sheds light on the current realities of African American people; by bringing their stories and experiences to the forefront. Conteh’s creative techniques range from paintings to drawings and sculptures to assemblage works. His artwork can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
Mr. Conteh’s visit to Peoria is a rare opportunity to directly interact with an internationally-recognized artist. All events are free and open to the public.

Alfred Conteh will host a live demonstration showing how he manipulates and prepares the surfaces on which he creates his art.
Gentrified - Film Screening and Discussion

“Gentrified” film followed by commentary from Mr. Conteh and questions from the audience. The film will be followed by a book signing in the museum lobby.

Alfred Conteh will be interviewed by Demarcus “Marc Supreme” Hamilton, the program director at 90.7 FM Radio in Peoria. Images of Conteh’s artwork displayed on the screen as the backdrop to the conversation. The discussion will be followed by a book signing in the museum lobby.
