Opera from around the globe! Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum as we welcome Dr. Miracle Amah for an operatic performance that shows an incredible cross-cultural range. 

A native of Nigeria, Miracle Amah is a librettist and a soprano presently based in the United States. She performs various genres of music which includes opera, art songs, oratorios, popular music, contemporary music, negro spirituals, jazz music etc. Dr. Amah has played major roles in several opera productions. Her staged performances include recitals, masterclasses, scenes and full opera productions in Nigeria, Canada, Russia, Germany, Dubai and the United States.

Presently, Dr. Amah serves as an assistant professor at Peoria's own Bradley University.

    The Peoria Riverfront Museum is thrilled to invite the educators of Central Illinois and their classrooms to a live virtual presentation with NASA Rover Driver Heather Justice.

    Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum for a day celebrating all things Midwestern agriculture. With a miniature exhibition on agriculture, featuring iconic pieces of the Peoria Riverfront Museum's permanent collection, such as "Woody" the horse, and demonstrators from all across Central Illinois, this is a day you don't want to miss!


    • Wildlife Prairie Park will be attending 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with animals and animal keepers. 
    • Peoria Farm Bureau will bring coloring books, farm bureau information, as well as make and take activities. 
    • U of I Extension of SNAP Education will bring nutrition education for all ages. 
    • Tazewell County 4-H will bring educational materials on embryology and newly hatched chicks. 
    • Hazy Day Cultivation will bring living soils and compost tea. 
    • Budded Mattah will share information on urban gardening and achievement. 
    • Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum will have STEAM-based maker activities related to farming. 
    • Peoria Park District will bring activities from the 1855 Koerner Family Farm.

    Interplanetary 5K Race + 1 Mile Fitness Walk

    March 25, 2023 - Register Now!

    Register by March 1 to guarantee a shirt!
    • A family oriented race/walk for participants of all ages. 5K Race for all ages,  1 Mile Fitness Walk,  1/2 Mile Kids' Fun Run
    • Walk or run through portions of the Central Illinois Community Solar System, the world's most complete large scale model of the Solar System
    • Participants will follow the routes of interplanetary explorers through the Solar System, from the Sun - past Mercury, Venus, and Earth - to Mars and back along the Riverfront Trail
    • It's athletic, it's educational, it's fun... for the whole family!


    Peoria Riverfront Museum (packet pickup), Gateway Building (start & finish Line)

    Course: Entirely flat (no hills) along the Riverfront Trail (from Gateway Building to Detweiller Marina)


    Packet Pickup: Friday, March 24, from 12:30-5:30 PM, and race day starting at 7:30 AM, in the museum's auditorium on the lower level.

    March 25, 2022:
    • 7:30-8:30 am: Race day registration; packet pickup
    • 9 am: 5K Race start
    • 9:05 am: 1 Mile Fitness Walk start
    • 9:30 am: Kids' 1/2 Mile Fun Run start
    • Refreshments after 5K race; awards after the Kids' Fun Run

    Participants can choose to receive a race shirt, or skip it for a discount on registration. Must register by March 1 to guarantee a shirt.


    • 5K Race (3.1 miles): $25 ($30 race day), without shirt: $20 ($25 race day)
    • 1 Mile Fitness Walk: $20 ($25 race day), without shirt: $15 ($20 race day)
    • Kids' Fun Run: $15 (includes Terry the Tractor book), without shirt: $10

    All race participants registered by March 1 have the option to receive a gender specific T-shirt. Participants may also choose not to receive a shirt, for a discounted entry fee.


    Included in your packet will be a one day pass to the Peoria Riverfront Museum, a sticker showing your out-of-this-world mileage, a t-shirt (if you chose that option), coupons and more!

    FUN RUN:

    Kids will run in a loop, starting from and ending at the Gateway Building. We will have a runner with them. A parent can run with their child at no extra cost. All kids will receive a medal at the end.


    Awards to overall male and female winners, and top male and female 5K runners in each age division. Certificates for kids and fitness walkers. All kids will receive their choice of a Terry the Tractor book, signed by the author and race director, Mike Rucker.

  • Cocktails with a Curator

    Every Last Tuesday of the Month | 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

    On the last Tuesday of every month, the Peoria Riverfront Museum invites you to join us for "Cocktails with a Curator."

    Sip on a signature cocktail based on an exhibition or work of art as our curators present a discussion on the history an significance of the object(s) in question. 

    Cocktail hour will be accompanied by light refreshments in the Peoria Riverfront Museum lobby.

    There will be a cash bar available after the first signature cocktail or drink of choice.

    On March 28, 2023, please join us for a discussion on the exhibition "Marks by Modern Masters: Selections from the Heintzman Collection." 

    Guest curator of music, Demarcus Hamilton, and donors Jeff Heintzman and John Heintzman will lead a brief discussion about their newest show, "Marks by Modern Masters," as well as the music chosen to accompany the visual art. Cocktail hour with light food in the lobby. Signature drink includes the iconic and timeless Manhattan inspired by the New York artists featured in the exhibition

    Discussion will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a cocktail hour in the museum lobby. 

    Members: $25

    Non-members: $30

  • Nathan Gunn: Live at the Museum!

    The Peoria Riverfront Museum is excited to welcome Grammy Award-winning baritone Nathan Gunn back to the museum for a one of kind performance. 

    A rare talent, Nathan's career spans both opera and musical theater, and he has generously shared his knowledge as the guest curator for "Nathan Gunn: The Art of Opera," on exhibition now! 

    Nathan will be accompanied by his wife and artistic partner, Julie Jordan Gunn. Nathan and Julie are the co-directors of the Lyric Theatre at the University of Illinois and will also be bringing a select group of their students to join in the performance.

    • Pre-reception begins at 5:30 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served in the "Nathan Gunn: The Art of Opera" exhibition.
    • Nathan Gunn will begin his performance at 6:30 p.m.

    Join us in the Peoria Riverfront Museum's Dome Planetarium for French Love songs performed by Bradley Instructor Courtney Huffman Frye. Enjoy visuals of nature projected by the Dome Planetarium, in addition to Frye's captivating soprano. 

    Charcuterie and wine will be served, included in ticket price.
