Peoria Riverfront Museum, in collaboration with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, presents a special online lecture, “Michael Jordan: A Reevaluation.”
National Museum of African American History and Culture Curator Dr. Damion Thomas will lead the online lecture about Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Jordan made his professional debut at the Peoria Civic Center in 1984. During the 1990s Jordan was the most recognizable man in the world. Almost twenty years after his last game, this presentation will evaluate his cultural legacy, and explain how he changed the world.
The Peoria Riverfront Museum is excited to announce our partnership with the Smithsonian Affiliation’s inaugural virtual lecture program, spotlighting Michael Jordan, and our commitment to the collection, interpretation, and preservation of stories of achievement that have a local connection.
“Michael Jordan: A Reevaluation,” delves into ESPN’s 10-part Michael Jordan documentary, “The Last Dance,” placing the story of Jordan into a larger cultural context. For more about ESPN’s “The Last Dance,” click HERE.
